Being Trapped is an Illusion

Updated: Jan 9, 2022

One of the biggest lies I ever bought into was the belief I was trapped and "didn't have a choice."

Now, when those words cross my mind, I realize I'm choosing to hang onto excuses. Life will only get more painful until I am willing to push past those excuses.

The truth is, there are ALWAYS choices. Just not easy choices. Just not comfortable choices. Just not safe choices.

Truth: "We don't have problems - only solutions we don't like."

I might hate my job and lack of time available for my own dreams, but if I am unwilling to make some risky and difficult decisions, I am CHOOSING to stay safe and stuck.

I might feel sorry for myself for being mistreated in a toxic relationship, but if I am unwilling to take a stand for myself or leave, I am CHOOSING to be mistreated and oppressed.

I might be at a deadend in my career, or friendship, or marriage, and if I am unwilling to LET IT GO or try something new, I am CHOOSING to be in a situation that does not light me up.

It is only when we take responsibility for our own side of the street, that we are empowered to create something different and new. If we simply resign ourselves to the mercy of someone else or their behavior, we have given away our power and our divine right to freedom.

Choosing freedom always requires courage and loads of discomfort. Own it and move forward! Being "trapped" is an illusion.
