What if you aren't broken?

“Get in shape to raise your self worth!”

“Have this plastic surgery to finally love your body!”

“Don’t you want to give yourself the gift of self love?” (On a weight loss ad)

We are bombarded with the message if we just improve _______ about ourselves, we will finally ACHIEVE self love. We will FINALLY be at ease with ourselves. We are sold the belief there is always SOMETHING about us that needs to be changed, fixed, and modified.

We are told we can hate and judge our bodies enough to eventually love them.

But, what if it’s the other way around?

What if self love doesn’t require any change at all?

What if you aren’t broken?

What if you don’t need to be fixed and changed?

What if you worked out because you love your body, not because you hate it?

What if you eat healthy food because you love your body, not because you hate it?

What if you feed your brain positive material because you love nourishing your mind?

What if you choose healthy relationships because you love respecting yourself?

What if you speak up for yourself because you love having your own back?

WHAT IF you are worth loving RIGHT NOW?

Love, chasing perfection is a backbreaking illusion to run after. It is a miserable treadmill. A carrot on a stick. It does not end in self love.

YOU are loveable RIGHT NOW. No changes necessary. So, honor that body. Nourish that mind. Respect yourself. Love all your quirks, dimples, rolls, and stretch marks shamelessly.

You got this Warrior. And, as my cherished friend, Carlie Young, always says, Love. Laugh. Lift. <3
